Welcome to our link. We have been particpating in this program since 2002. Big Lake joined us in 2004.

The Do the Write Thing Challange (DtWT), a 502(c) 3 non-partisan, non-profit organization made up of business, community and governmental leaders who work together to reduce youth violence across America

The DtWT Challenge encourages seventh and eight graders to examine youth violence by responding to thought-provoking questions about its causes, its effects on them personally, and what they can do individually, about youth violence. Each child is given a chance to express themselves intelligently, develop coping skills, achieve recognition, and gain writing proficiency.

This year, Bonham Junior High, Bowie Junior High, Crockett Junior High, Ector Junior High (Odessa) and Reagan County Middle School (Big Lake) participated in the challenge. Over 400 essays were submitted.

This program works because the students know the problems and the answers. The teachers, parents, school administrators, community and especially the students all come winners.

Sincerely

Tammy Hawkins
